January is usually a nice and mellow start to the year after an action-packed holiday season capping off with the biggest party of the year on NYE. December 2019 was probably my busiest month ever and lucky for me January has turned into a bit of a beast too. The usual onslaught of gigs as the Roxy’s resident DJ in conjunction with some pretty cool events in the fitness industry has given me a decent variety of shows, and some lack of proper sleep in the meantime.
I spent most of yesterday afternoon putting the finishing touches on a funky vocal house burner with my good friend and habitual collaborator, James Landau. Mr. Landau is a wizard on the MPC and crafts some of the funkiest and soulful beats I’ve heard from anybody this side of the 49th parallel. Fortunately for everybody, he’s recently taken a liking to the world of house, while still paving his path in the world of hip hop. This joint we have is a burner and I can’t wait to let this thing fly in the next month or so.
After that I’m looking forward to hitting the studio with DJ 151 to finish recording on my project with the legendary, Ras Kass. One of the finest MCs to come out of Los Angeles, he’s back on top form with his latest album Soul on Ice 2 featuring Snoop Dogg, Cee-Lo and Everlast. This joint should be hitting the streaming services in the spring.
In addition, I will be dropping my monthly feature, Bit and Pieces in the next week, as well as some more meaty pieces I’ve been marinating on for a minute in the month of February. In the meantime, I will leave you with this tasty little number from twoloud and Stupid Goldfish.
1-2-3. Knock it back like Mr. T.

Thats awesome that James is mixing it up with some house music. There should be more house/hip-hop collaborations.
