Here are some gems that don’t necessarily fit with our regular four to the flour bread-and-butter selections. The great thing about this ongoing segment is that it gives us an opportunity to venture off our regular path of genre and era. There’s a lot of music out there these days and even those in the know like us DJs can have some jams that slip through the cracks.
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster lately with the ebb and flow of health statistics and business regulations treating us to a tug-of-war of emotions and uncertainty. Who knows what the future will bring?
Good thing we have music.
The beat goes on and with the vast void left from the inability to throw any significant shows, you can be sure that artists around the world are taking this time to get some tracks in the can. If we can’t perform we might as well make the most of it and log some solid hours writing. It should be interesting to hear the tidal wave of new music that should start to bubble to the surface over the coming months.
Here is a mixed bag of tracks, some of which are fresh off the presses and others which didn’t manage to hit our radar when they were first released starting with these up-tempo hip hop soul goodies from Kartell and Che Lingo.

This electronic pop composition has been chugging up the charts for most of the summer recently hitting number one on the iTunes electronic charts in Canada.
Dave Lee – Big Blow
Another funky little joint from a name you might not be familiar with but a person you actually know. If you’ve been around the house scene for long enough you’ve no doubt heard of Joey Negro. He’s known for his funky chunky modern disco house records and in light of recent events, he felt it was time to retire the name and use his real one. Good on ya, Dave. This song comes with a mirror ball and smells like cocaine. Blazing saxophone included. Batteries sold separately.
JT James is a DJ, producer and writer based out of Vancouver, Canada. A veteran of the DJ and recording worlds. he has produced several projects in the genres of hip hop and electronic music under various aliases such as James Divine, Track Nicholson and Sandy Villanova. When he’s not on the decks, in the studio or staring into a blank word document you can catch him at the beach, hiking through the forest or telling people how much yoga can change their life. Look out for his latest project Wulvun, coming to all platforms later this summer.
