With the August Long Weekend behind us, lots of people out there are keen on slowing the pace a bit as we settle back into our regular routines. No time like the present, to recharge the batteries and soak in some slower paced summer flavours.
Deep house and downtempo vibes are the order of the day. Time to unplug from the smart phone and get lost in the music. It’s funny how your perspective changes when you take a bit of an escape from the regular rituals that we’ve all become accustomed to, but know we’d be better without.
For me, the last few months have involved a lot more windshield time than the previous. April was a pretty big shock for us all, but hey, at least, I saved a bunch of money on gas. Silver linings people. Now that things are slowly starting to move again, I’ve found myself behind the steering wheel trying to make some things happen and more times than not, just to clear my noisy head.
When I’m driving in the car, I tend to oscillate between a few of my favourite comedians, podcasts and whatever music can help quell my occasional bouts of road rage. Hey, it happens. You can meditate for an hour a day and still freak out when someone pulls in front of you when you’re ripping down the highway ten over the speed limit. That’s why when I’m not escaping into an interview or busting a gut, I’m usually playing some of my favourite deep house or chill tracks when I find myself stuck in gridlock cursing the nerve of the universe for not bending to my will.
It works.
Let me play it forward with my Time to Chill Top 5.
RUFUS DU SOL – Desert Night
NORA EN PURE – Delta
DRAMA – Hold On (Rezident Remix)
Latroit feat. Charlz – Don’t Give Up
