Time to Chill Again

Squeezing every last drop out of summer is something I try to do every year in September.  This month often provides some extended days to enjoy the city’s sweeter spots without wading through the typical summer crowds. School’s back, vacations are wrapping up and for most it’s time to pick up the pace and get to work.

In the spirit of sweet September (now I know what Earth, Wind and Fire was talking about), let’s take a break and unwind one last time before the cold grip of life’s reality squeezes our souls through the dark and wet weeks of fall.  Send back that pumpkin spice latte.  We’re still sipping something bubbly till the calendar passes the 21st, the sun stops shining and my hoodie rotation starts going into full effect.

Time to chill, again.

Starting things off with the multi-talented Bay Area artist Scott Hansen aka Tycho, who has been manifesting some solid downtempo numbers for well over a decade and knows his way around sound, composition and design as demonstrated here in his latest video. Then we have King Henry with some nice and sweet deep house moves followed by  Joey Pecoraro channeling our favourite French robots with shades of Vangelis on his latest Kaleidescope

Closing things out, we hand out the award for ‘Band Name That Best Personifies a Trend Gone Too Far’ for this next mellow number from Ritt Momney.   Get it?   Ya, pretty cool, huh? (*eye roll emoji).  I said nothing when Com Truise hit the scene and kept my big fat dumb mouth shut when Mord Fustang started melting faces with his ill AF harmonic electro, but I’m making my stand here.  Shitty politicians aside, this idea of switching the letters of famous names is played the hell out.  That being said, not a bad little cover of Corinne Bailey Rae’s 2006 hit ‘Put Your Records On’.  The music is decent, I will give them that and in the end that’s all that matters.
